DPPA is a non-profit employee organization formed to lobby on behalf of its members on issues pertaining to employment with the County of Sacramento. We are governed by our Bylaws, which among other things, "provide for financial assistance to members for matters pertaining to their employment, including but not limited to, the cost of legal assistance that a member may incur in a grievance proceeding." Our Bylaws also describe the duties of our 8 elected Board members, how our elections are held, dues, etc. Meetings are held monthly - check our schedule.

In addition to our official business, the DPPA board believes it is important to have occasional social gatherings to help foster a good working relationship among all IT/Data Processing employees within the County, including Management.

How was DPPA formed?

Until 1983 the Sacramento County data processing professionals belonged to the Office-Technical Unit. For various reasons a number of employees petitioned to withdraw from the union and form a separate bargaining unit known as the "Data Processing Professionals Association". At the subsequent election DPPA members rejected union membership; they requested a different type of relationship with their employer. On May 10, 1983, the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors adopted "SCC No. 545, An Ordinance Adding Chapter 2.105 to the Sacramento County Code Relating to the Informal Representation of Employees other than Management or Confidential Employees."

Who is eligible for membership?

The only eligibility requirement is that you must be a member of representation unit 028 within Sacramento County employment. (Check your County timesheet.) Click here for How to Join.
